Chad Peck

Noyes Records

Londonderry, NS

Noyes Records is not your everyday recording studio. Founder Chad Peck, a recent St. FX Bachelor of Education graduate, realized there was no access to good quality recording for students in the Truro area. Therefore, he decided to follow his passion and entrepreneurial ideas with help from the students in business program; and began providing local student artists with an affordable service. Chad draws on his deep respect for the amount of young untapped talent in the area as well as many different aspects of the music industry for his small business success.

The idea began with understanding the challenges youth face to promote and produce music and that in some way he would foster this among Colchester’s musically talented youth. He began with the idea of Noyes Records as an affordable recording studio for local talent, but after getting into business it quickly become more; including a record label and dealing with music promotion and production.

“In the spring of 2005, I had a meeting with CBDC in Truro to discuss a business idea I had.  Being young and not overly familiar with how these things happen, I was pretty apprehensive about pitching my idea to anyone, let alone a group that could provide me with funding. Luckily, the people were really easy to talk to and at no point made me feel inferior about my age or inexperience. They were encouraging, and thought my idea was a decent one.  Needless to say, there were bumps along the road.  The CBDC staff took this in stride, and was more than accommodating the whole way through.  Without their help, I probably wouldn't have attempted to make my idea come into fruition.”

What started out as a small town idea, has grown into a success with international recognition. Noyes Records (www.noyesrecords.com ) has sold c-d’s in places as far reaching as Germany and has had reviews in prominent magazines from the United States.  Chad recently signed a deal to have records distributed to record stores all over Canada, and they are  constantly referred to as one of the prominent up and coming record labels on the East coast, collecting an impressive and diverse roster of artists such as: Tomcat Combat, On Film and VKNGS.  Currently, Chad is focused on releasing independent music, and in the future plans to expand into other mediums.
